 FAA CHECK FLIGHT LEAR JET

SPOTTED OVER KGVE!

The FAA’s flight check Lear jet was spotted and photographed doing an approach at KGVE Monday July 25. This is a sure sign that we will soon have an RNAV/GPS approach. Caleb Glick checked and we are officially on the Federal Registry. We just don’t know when it will be in place.

RUNWAY LIGHTS

Break-away fittings for the runway lights were replaced. Other light repairs were completed or lights replaced.

The Ol' Crop Duster's fix for a break-away light. These lights were the typical lights installed for runway usage ca.1960.  We will be using/maintaining this traditional style until we get a new runway in place.

PROJECT COMPLETED BY GAPS MEMBERS (August 2011)

It took a year but enough mats were finally purchased and Michael ColburnMichael Colburn pictured here painted the mats and made sure they were in place.

Donating one of these rubber mats to be placed around the runway lights.  The mats will be painted white and will be used as a weed and mower barrier as well as runway identification.

We are painting them with primer and with white paint for greater visibility from the air.

To donate just email us at bluebird@bluebirdaerodrome.com

The cost is about $13.00 per mat. We would like to purchase 50 mats.  Thank you to the following people who have donated a mat:

Buck Carlton

Mr. Horton

Caleb and Faith Glick

Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy

Kristin Farry

GAPS(Gordonsville Airport Preservation Society)

Work Party February 28,2009

It was a cold, windy day at GVE. GAPS members worked diligently. Runway lights, disconnected by culvert work, were re-attached and fixed. Runway debris left from tree and runway obstruction removal were picked up to make grass mowing possible along the runway later in the spring. GAPS provided 2 on-site smoked chickens for work party group for lunch. We would like to thank all the GAPS members for their hard work and community effort in support of Gordonsville Municipal Airport.
